CREATIVE PROFESSIONALS NEED SOMEONE TO HELP PROTECT THEIR PRECIOUS INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY with .

Writers, authors, actors, artists, publishing houses, production companies, and entertainment executives have all been clients of mine. I’m trusted by NYTimes Bestselling authors and multinational corporations alike. That’s because I’m not just an attorney, but I’ve personally had a variety of experiences in the industry.

I’ve worked as an actor and performer with experience that includes commercials, film, and New York theater. I’ve co-produced low budget films, off-Broadway shows, and I’m still a member of the acting unions, SAG-AFTRA and AEA. I’ve also worked with award-winning record producers. That experience makes me uniquely qualified to understand the issues that face performers and other industry professionals. I even hosted the weekly podcast Is That Really Legal with Eric Ruben that you can still access by clicking here.

Eric W. Ruben, Esq.

I graduated from New York’s Cardozo School of Law, and for over 35 years have represented New York Times bestselling authors, screenwriters, actors, Oscar-nominated producers, and theatrical and film production companies. I’ve worked as an actor and performer with experience that includes commercials, film, and New York theater. That experience, paired with work I’ve done co-producing low budget films and off-Broadway shows, as well as dealing with agents and producers from both sides of the table, makes me uniquely qualified to understand the issues that face performers and other industry professionals. I’m also a frequent speaker and lecturer across the United States and in Europe.

I practice law in New York and Massachusetts. I’m a member of the New York Bar Association’s Literary Works & Related Rights Committee, the Music committee, and the Digital Entertainment, Television, and Radio Committee. I’ve been an active member of the acting unions, SAG-AFTRA and AEA, for four decades. I’m also a published songwriter and member of ASCAP, as well as a recording artist with songs available from all the major streaming services.
